Hello donors and friends. Thanks again for all of your support in 2017.The winter wheat that was planted after the soybean harvest last fall will be harvested in mid summer.
From the photo you can see that the wheat had a healthy growing start before the winter. There has been a good snow cover on the field over the winter months which is important to protect the young dormant plants. It is a variety of soft red wheat which will be used to produce cake and pastry flour and also for animal feed. The wheat should be growing well by the time of our annual farm visit to show you the growing crop and thank you for your donations. This event takes place at the farm on Saturday June 2. Please markyour calendars! We will send an email with details closer to the time. We also have a new video for you to check out on our website seeds-of-life.ca
We are asking for donations of $400 per acre to cover the cost of producing this crop. Depending on yields and crop prices expect to realize at least $500 per acre to send to the Foodgrains Bank to help in funding the relief and development projects of our overseas partners. When matched with donations from the government of Canada we could raise as much as $2500 from each of our 72 acres.
We look forward to another successful year in 2018. Please help us with your donation. To sponsor an acre or part of an acre, visit the donation page on our website for details. Working together, we can change the lives of people who don’t have the resources to help themselves.
