NEPAL EARTHQUAKE - WORST IN 60 YEARS
Earthquake shakes Nepal.....Nazarenes respond
April 25 a powerful earthquake hit the country of Nepal. The US earthquake centre recorded it at 7.9 on the Richter scale with the epicentre some 50 miles northwest of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal.
News report thousands of dead in Kathmandu alone. The Durbar square, a world heritage site, is according to eyewitnesses only stones and rubble. The new roads just recently built are torn open; the airport is closed and entry to Nepal is through India, a one day ride by car --- if the roads are open. Thousands are terribly frightened, because of constant smaller and bigger after-shakes.
The Church of the Nazarene has several hundred churches with thousands of members in Nepal. In Kathmandu and close by alone over ten churches and church plants are affected.A team of doctors and nurses from Humedica, a partner organization that has helped Nazarene Compassionate Ministries in various disaster response efforts around the world, has been dispatched to Nepal.
Please pray for Nepal and particularly those in and around Kathmandu who are affected including our churches. Pray for Rev. Dilli, the District Superintendent, and for NCM workers and pastors who are responding.
Please send donations in support of the initial response and the rehabilitation efforts.. Please mark your gift with "Nepal earthquake” and send it to the National Office, Church of the Nazarene Canada, Unit 9, 20 Regan Rd., Brampton ON L7A 1C3 or call the national office 1-888-808-7490 or donate online www.ncmc.ca
Thank you for your support and prayers
