Anniversary: May 1st General Information
We have four grown children, and 2 grandchildren, boys ages 10 and 1½. Three of our children live in California, and one in Seattle, WA. We served as teachers at Nazarene Theological College when our children were young. We are very happy to be back in Australia/New Zealand. We love the assignment we have and the people we work with. Our hobbies and interests include snorkeling, hiking, gardening and reading. Our favourite pastime is spending time together in any of the above activities. We live in a rainforest not far from the Gold Coast. It is a lovely location with birds of many kinds—parrots, cockatoos and kookaburras and many more. |
John and Vicki Moore have been in full-time ministry since 1977. Their first two pastorates were church plants: Chino, California, from 1977-1987; and College Church on the Nazarene Theological College campus in Brisbane, Australia, where they also served as lecturers from 1987-1991. The school draws a widely diverse student population from throughout the Asian-Pacific region and provided significant practical understanding of cross-cultural ministry. These years of experience offered preparation for a transitioning ministry at Christ Community Church of the Nazarene in Concord, California, where they served from 1991 to 2006. Christ Community is located in a diverse neighborhood: within 1.3 miles of the church campus live 30,000 immigrants from over 50 countries, speaking 27 languages. During their tenure, the church became multi-congregational—one church with worship expressions in five languages: Indonesian, Korean, Spanish, Tamil, and English. Since the Moore’s time there, the church has gone on to add another congregation speaking Tagalog.
Both John and Vicki graduated from Pt. Loma Nazarene University. John holds graduate degrees from Nazarene Theological Seminary and Fuller Graduate School of Theology. They have three children, the youngest a recent PLNU graduate recently married last Spring. Their remarkable, nine-year-old grandson has found keen competition from grandchild #2 who made his appearance on August 1, 2010. Since 2006 they have served on the Eurasia Region where John has been the Regional Coordinator of Evangelism and Church Planting and District Superintendent of the Hungary District, residing in Budapest, Hungary. In May 2010, John assumed a new appointment as Field Strategy Coordinator for Australia/New Zealand on the Asia Pacific Region. Vicki assists with Field and Administrative duties. ![]()
I've attached a few photos, some of us and one of
our garden friends, the kookaburras. I've also attached our most recent update (above). There were also a couple of stories on NCN news recently: http://www.ncnnews.com/nphweb/html/ncn/article.jsp?sid=10000006&id=10011183 and http://www.ncnnews.com/nphweb/html/ncn/article.jsp?sid=10000006&id=10011116 Since the last story (the one about Belinda Allder) she has passed away. There is also a recorded interview with Belinda done just before her death. http://engagemagazine.com/content/under-his-sky-belinda-allders-story I think you'll find this interview inspiring. Belinda was a product of WM here in Australia, and she became a missionary to orphaned children in Thailand. Along the way she has inspired countless young people to know and follow the call of Jesus on their lives. THIS IS WHAT MISSION IS!!! We miss her so much! Let me know if I can provide further help on your presentation. Blessings to you in Central Canada. Please give our greetings to all those who attend the convention and let them know we depend on their prayers. - Vicki |
