KUCEY KORNER
December 2016
December 20th 2016
I wish we could sit down with each of you and share a cup of hot apple cider or, maybe, hot chocolate while the snow is gently falling outside, with the bright lights of the Christmas lighting up the room filled with sights and smells of Christmas. Christmas is so very different here in Haiti. As a matter of fact, I can’t really even tell it is Christmas time. One Haitian said to a missionary friend, “Christmas is for the white people.”
Sad statement.
Christmas isn’t just for “white people.” Christmas is for all. God so loved the WORLD, that he gave his one and only Son.
That world includes Haiti and Haitians.
This month I wondered what to share with our prayer partners. I thought about how I could keep it cheery and happy for all. Who wants to hear about suffering and sorrow at Christmas time? But the truth is, Christmas is hard for many. It is really hard for Haitians, particularly for those who have survived Hurricane Matthew. Please take time to get yourself a cup of hot chocolate on our behalf, sit by your Christmas tree and prayerfully read through the attached newsletter where we share both updates and a video on one of our Nazarene Districts that was hit the hardest by this storm. Please take time this Season to pray for those who still suffer and for those of us who are trying to make a difference here in Haiti not just at Christmas time but all year around.
And, please know that we are so thankful for your support this past year. I thank the Lord frequently in prayer for each and all who take time to intercede before him on our behalf.
He is so good and we are so grateful.
Merry Christmas!
