SWAZILAND 2012

The 2012 GO Team, led by Marg Stahlbaum, travelled to Swaziland during August.

They arrived "in country" in time to meet up with the Container, shipped from Cambridge in June, carrying over 22,000 books that will be distributed to school libraries in Swaziland.  Included in the shipment were some specially produced literature to educate families on HIV/AIDS.

SWAZILAND LIBRARY PROJECT

Canada Central NYI sent over 12,000 books for rural schools in Swaziland, Africa in 2011. For many of the schools, it was their first opportunity to start to build a library for students and teachers!

We are sending another container in 2012. We are now collecting new or gently used children's books - picture books, junior fiction, junior non-fiction, current atlases, dictionaries and picture dictionaries, thesauruses, children's bibles, and bible storybooks.

We'll also be doing fundraising for shipping costs, construction money for shelving, desks and miscellaneous items for a Library.
