Annual World Week of Prayer includes new focus
Thursday, February 23, 2012 Global Ministry Center By NCN News Staff The annual Nazarene World Week of Prayer begins Sunday, February 26 and will continue through Saturday, March 3. Each year, Nazarenes are asked to dedicate themselves to interceding in prayer for the global church and the world. Nazarene Missions International created a daily prayer plan that revolves around a selected region’s special requests. These plans can be found by clicking here. This year the requests are available in five languages: Spanish, Portuguese, French, Korean, and English. Sunday through Friday the plans focus on the six world regions, starting alphabetically with Africa on Sunday and ending with USA/Canada on Friday. The seventh day, Saturday, Nazarenes are asked to focus on the persecuted church, or the areas in which Christians are not allowed to formally organize. NMI’s website explains the purpose of the week. “The Nazarene World Week of Prayer was begun with hopes that this event would re-ignite prayer flames, deepen commitment to prayer and fasting, and precipitate revival in our churches and lives.” During the week, requests will also be published on the NMI Prayer Mobilization Line Facebook page and will be sent out with the PML on Tuesday and Friday. NWWP always includes the World Day of Prayer, which occurs on the first Friday of March each year. |
