Do you recall when Foster Hewitt screamed those words during Saturday Night Hockey? "He shoots ... he scores!" So many people across Canada were tuned into those weekly hockey games because of the excitement that was generated across the airwaves.

Well GOL, is the new "He shoots, he scores!"

Soccer is taking over as the most popular sport around the world. Anybody and everybody can play the game, and they are! From little children on rough dirt pitches ... to highly trained professional World Cup champions in highly-sponsored, televised HDTV presentations.

This Summer, the 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP of Soccer will be held during June and July 2010 in South Africa, pitting passionate and motivated soccer teams from all over the world, against one another. It will likely be the most highly promoted event of this first decade of the new millennium. More people will tune-in and watch these televised games than are currently watching the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Many more!

The Global Church of the Nazarene has envisioned this event as an amazing opportunity for LOCAL and GLOBAL evangelical outreach to the lost, a method for the church to build relationships both in our local community and throughout the world. And you and I are invited to participate.

The good news is that the cost of participation is low, and the burden is light! All we have to do is follow some simple directions and we can see many in our local communities, and around the world, come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Commitment, excitement, motivation and energy and a little bit of cash are the main ingredients for this recipe, destined for success.

Your Canada Central District SDMI and NMI Councils have mounted a joint initiative to encourage you to get involved and to walk alongside of God as He welcomes many new souls into His Kingdom.

For an investment of less than $300 your local church can run its own one-day (or weekend, or even week-long) event to coincide with this year's FIFA World Cup in South Africa, that will have an overwhelming and lasting effect on the lives of your local community families.

Or, you can participate with other local churches in a Zone event with similar but more widespread results.

Additionally, your church can sponsor other churches around the world to run their own single day, weekend or week-long event.

And, it has been made unbelievably simple for us to accomplish. The resources are readily available, and SDMI / NMI have a team of individuals already on their feet and running to help us make this a HUGE and successful Summer event for you and me and for our entire District. Let's join together and join the Global Church of the Nazarene, Making Christlike Disciples in the Nations!
